Baby Shower Favors That Don't Include A Cookie

By Carolyn Stine January 31, 2019

We love cookies, but we’re thinking above and beyond the sweet treats for favors when you host your baby shower.

As much as we love being handed a frosted cookie with a personalized message as we leave a baby shower... been there, done that. It’s 2019, baby. As the concept of a shower continues to evolve and moms-to-be think outside of the conventional “tea party at home with games” routine, we wanted to make sure that we stay up-to-date with all of the forward-thinking (and just plain fun) trends out there. Our current mission? Bringing up all of the newest and best ideas for baby shower favors. Pastel m&ms, be gone! It’s time to shake things up when you’re planning this special day.

Something’s Growing

The mama-to-be won’t be the only one with something growing. Treat your guests to their own mini succulent as they depart. Not only are they beautiful in any space, but they’re easy to take care even for the least green-thumbed among us. We love these simple, white cement pots that you can fill with the tiny succulent of your choosing. Don’t have time to fill? Check out The Sill.

Bun in the Oven

We love the idea of sending guests home with breakfast for the next day, and nothing is more classic and delicious than a morning bun. You can make them the day ahead, then bake them the morning of the shower so that guests can take them home at their freshest. Bonus points if you include a mini glass jar of jam alongside them.

Fizz/Clink

You know what mama is looking forward to (besides the little one)? Being able to have a drink with her girlfriends again once her bundle of joy arrives. Pick out your favorite champagne that comes in mini bottles, adorn them with ribbons or twine, and gift them to your friends, telling them that they can “pop it when you pop” and enjoy it together. It will give you all something to look forward to, and another excuse to get together once you’re a mom.

Kid at Heart

We’ve been using adult coloring books for years and let us tell you, they are absolutely addictive. Even the biggest of skeptics will not be able to resist the pure joy that coloring brings, which we often forget applies to more than just little ones. We love The Calm Coloring Book and these chic Brandless colored pencils as favors for your adult friends. Just sit back and watch the texts pour in about how much they are loving your whimsical gift.

She’s Popped (now you can too)

Popcorn, one of the queens of all snacks. As much as we love our SkinnyPop, there’s nothing quite like making homemade popcorn on the stove. Grab some mason jars and fill them with the popcorn kernels of your choice (we love making alternating bands of color), and include a notecard with your favorite popcorn recipe. That could mean this killer vanilla honey salted caramel popcorn, or even our new fave, the margherita pizza popcorn.

It’s a Framer

In the digital era, getting photos developed to have in your home is something that always seems to fall by the wayside. We love the idea of being able to send your guests home with memories from your shower, and what better way to do that than with photos? Invest in a polaroid camera if you don’t already have one (trust us, you’ll use it all the time with entertaining), and have your guests take photos with you throughout the event. In the end, have these sleek modern frames waiting for them, which they can take home with their favorite photo.

About to Hatch

Raise your hand if when you go to set a timer in your kitchen for your dinner, you do so on your phone. Yeah, we do that too. So when we stumbled across these absolutely adorable egg timers, we thought “bingo!”. Your friends will think of you and your little one every time they reach for this charming kitchen timer, and you’ll be the one to save the day every time that the roast chicken doesn’t get burned, to boot.

Have favors become a thing at your friends' baby showers? If so, what have you seen?
