Netflix and...Chili? Here Are Our Favorite TV & Dinner Combos

By Carolyn Stine October 23, 2018

Netflix...and chill… and five of your best friends? Yes, please. Here’s how to host a tv night in style.

How many times have you said (out loud, or to yourself), “all I want to do is go home and watch Netflix on my couch?” If you’re asking us, it’s more often than we would care to admit. But what if you don’t have to compromise your night in catching up on your shows, and instead can use your AppleTV as a fun and oh-so-chill way to entertain a few of your friends? We thought so, too. Check out our guide to hosting a tv night at home, and doing it all with style.

The Bachelor

Even though we wish it was Jason or Blake, we’re still gonna be watching Colton’s season of The Bachelor, which is filming as we speak. We also know that 95% of our girlfriends will be watching along as well. Cue the champagne - this is a bona fide perfect girls night! Have the ladies over, pop some bubbly, and serve them a smorgasbord of sweet treats to go with it. We love classic chocolate-dipped strawberries, but also an assortment of our favorite Sockerbit candies and our go-to easy dessert, these 5-ingredients coconut macaroons.

Game of Thrones

Winter is (definitely) coming. And although we have yet to come up with any dragon-themed options, we love the idea of hosting a cozy get-together on a chilly night. Cue the hearty slow-cooker veggie stew and the assortment of rich red wines. Bonus points if you have extra throw blankets at the ready for your guests.

Big Little Lies

If season two was anywhere near as addictive as the first season, we are in big trouble over here. Invite the ladies over to watch and celebrate, Cali-style, with some assemble-your-own fish tacos. Have some Coronas with lime at the ready, but it can’t hurt to also have a bottle (or two) of a crisp California white wine on ice too.

Chef’s Table

Warning: never watch this show while hungry. We’ve made that mistake before, and never will again. We love the idea of watching this show with friends and serving all small bites, which complement all of the insanely delicious flavors we see in each new episode. How about some spiced candied nuts, a decadent truffle popcorn, and an epic cheese and charcuterie board? Guests will get to satiate whatever craving the show brings on!

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Is it bad that the first thing that came to mind when thinking about Maisel-esque noshes was her infamous brisket? It felt like a character on the first season. But if you want to play hostess and serve something slightly less work-intensive, how about a big pot of matzo ball soup? You can’t go wrong with a side of crunchy deli dill pickles, either.

The Sinner

This may officially be our new favorite show of the year, and Jessica Biel is definitely our current girl crush. This dark detective mystery is best served with the lights off, and a group of friends close by. We also love the idea of serving up a “bloody” steak salad and a stiff martini to go along with it (trust us, you’ll need it).
