Your Workout + Brunch Guide Is Here

By Carolyn Stine October 17, 2018

Ready to branch out from your usual girls’ night? What about a weekend workout and brunch combo? We pair our favorite brunch spots with nearby workouts in cities across the country.

Remember those weekends in your early 20s when you would wake up hungover, go straight to a boozy brunch and keep it rolling? Yeah, we're old now. Though we look back on these times fondly, we also like being able to wake up on a Saturday and workout and go to a leisurely brunch that may not be bottomless. So why not get the girls together for the one-two punch of a workout class and brunch extravaganza? We rounded up our favorite classes and brunch spots around the country for your next weekend with the girls.

Workout brunch

305 Fitness + Miss Lily's (NYC)

Let’s face it - a live DJ and ass-kicking playlist will never NOT get us excited. But add that into a Latin-themed dance class, and you’ve got yourself our new favorite workout. After you dance it out at 305 with the girls, head a few blocks south to Miss Lily’s on Houston Street for coconut pancakes. They also have amazing juices.

The Studio MDR + Rose Cafe (Venice Beach)

After doing SLT in NYC, we couldn’t wait to try out The Studio (MDR) in our beloved Venice, and it did not disappoint. This is megaformer pilates at its most megawatt. We also can’t resist a day at Rose Cafe, which is gorgeously designed, great for people watching, and literally has something for everyone, from a grain bowl to a double cheeseburger.

CorePower Yoga + Res Ipsa (Philadelphia)

CorePower Yoga has become our new go-to yoga fixation. It’s warm (not hot), and their sculpt class incorporates weights into your flow to really wake you up on a Saturday. Stroll over to Res Ipsa for brunch post-workout. This little cafe has some of the best coffee and Philly, and a menu that’s short and sweet but so delicious. You can always grab your BEC (on a homemade english muffin) to-go and bring your group to Rittenhouse Square to enjoy an impromptu picnic (plus, they have a farmers market on Saturdays!).

City Surf Fitness + Elizabeth Street Cafe (Austin)

So, technically Austin is a landlocked city, but that didn’t stop us for seeking out a surf there. Enter: City Surf, which has you breaking a sweat on a surfboard during class. The absolute best spot for brunch, Elizabeth Street Cafe, is nearby and is a must - they specialize in Vietnamese cuisine and their breakfast pho and beignets are to die for.

Hotbox Fitness + Adele’s (Nashville)

Any studio with a name like Hotbox is all good in our book, but this place boasts a pretty booty-kicking kickboxing workout as well. Legit one block away is the incredible Adele’s, the brainchild of Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto fame (and one of our top NYC spots). If you go with your girls on a Saturday, there’s a full lunch menu, but head there on a Sunday and they serve a Sunday buffet brunch that’s out of this world.

Firebrand + Tasty n Alder (Portland OR)

Not only is Portland one of our all-time favorite cities for food, but there are some sneakily cool workout ventures popping up out there too. Firebrand is a balls to the wall HIIT class, and Tasty n Alder is the stuff that brunch dreams are made of. Case in point: one of their apps is a malted chocolate milkshake that comes with fries for dipping in the shake.
