It's January, which means you know at least five people who know five people who got engaged over the holidays. If you're one of them, congrats! To save you the hassle, we've rounded up some of our favorite venues for engagement parties in New York City.
When you're looking for swanky meets sophisticated, the sceney spot has a chic lounge with DJs & a modern steakhouse serving prime cuts and seafood.
LOWER EAST SIDE
We love Freemans because of its unassuming entrance (through an obscure alley in the LES) that allows for a casual wow factor once you step in. The first floor is the main restaurant, and the second floor can be all yours. Laid-back parents and cool friends will enjoy this for your engagement party.
Be like George Clooney and bring all of your casAMIGOS to this restaurant that serves Mexican small plates and yes, tequila. It's a fun vibe that's also nicer than most Mexican restaurants so you can have your engagement party and drink your tequila too.
The Wythe Hotel has been a staple in Williamsburg for several years and it still has its industrial charm. This 1901 factory building on the waterfront will make all those people who complained about coming to Brooklyn eat crow.
The private room at Little Park is a cozy enclave located on the lower level of the Smyth Hotel featuring a private bar, a candlelit black stone fireplace and a vintage lounge area for cocktails.
This spot boasts two Cabanas (North and South) each with 3,000 square feet of space in the heart of the meatpacking district with The Whitney Museum and The Highline in full view. The space is dazzling and the food does not disappoint.
UPPER WEST SIDE
These restaurants are starting to be as ubiquitous as Starbucks, but for good reason. The food is good and they have mastered the art of utilizing their spaces both for regular restaurant go-ers and private events. We're featuring the Lincoln Center space but you can count any any of the locations to deliver.
This little wine bar tucked on the edge of Soho (across from that amazing old Police building that we're dying to live in) is a gem. The food is really delicious and it's managed to be a relaxed wine bar that also has a hint of charm in the decor. Take advantage of the happy hour when you're scouting this place for your party, and then rent it out on the spot. You won't break the bank, either.
This swanky speakeasy is great for a date, and your engagement party. It's "hidden" enough to feel exclusive, but your guests won't run into a line outside with a grouchy bouncer. The cocktails are on point and the big couches and chairs will make you never want to leave.
LOWER EAST SIDE
Stanton Social a great place for larger group dinners and cocktail parties. The entire 2nd floor can be booked for up to 120 guests for cocktails and passed appetizers. These guys have been around the block and are still serving up sexy meets fun.
